"The two green vertical bars remind me of 9/11 when families and friends I knew left America because they felt scared that something would happen to them because they were Muslim. My family and friends and I wore head wraps and would be harassed, cursed at, and called terrorist so we stopped wearing our head wraps, which is a part of our tradition. The tire symbolizes the loneliness I felt when there were no other Muslims around--people viewed me as different because they didn't understand me or my culture."
